Opportunities and requirements for net zero transition at farm level can require new planning horizons and often long-term commitments. These do not always align with farm planning cycles, family succession, business plans and farm tenancies, and can have implications for land value and inheritance tax management.
In this webinar three expert speakers will each take a different perspective on these issues, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
This webinar is for all land use stakeholders interested in the topic of enabling transition to net zero.

How to work with triggers and family cycles for transformative change
Professor Lee-Ann Sutherland. James Hutton Institute, Scotland. Lee-Ann Sutherland is director of the Hutton’s International Land Use Study Centre, with a remit to build capacity for just transition in land use. She pioneered the ‘triggering change’ model of farmer decision making, underpinning research on agricultural knowledge and innovation systems. She co-leads the LUNZ Hub.
Nature-based solutions: making sense of the opportunities
Emily Norton, Policy Champion for AFN Network+ and founder of Farm Foresight. Emily is a farmer and independent strategic advisor for the rural sector. She works with farmers, investors, politicians and businesses on rural policy and emerging trends, with expertise in natural capital influences on land, food and farming.
Land Use Change for Net Zero – Actual or Perceived Constraints?
Nick Millard, Chartered Surveyor, Henley Business School, University of Reading. Nick Millard MRICS FAAV REV is a Chartered Surveyor and agricultural valuer who has combined a commercial career with academic work. He has provided strategic and policy advice to a range of significant landowners including The Crown Estate and some 20 plus smallholding authorities in England and Wales. He is a past President of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.
