Shivani Singhal

Shivani is currently a Research Fellow with the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds. In the JUSTLANZ project, she investigates environmental justice and sustainable land use through participatory approaches. In 2024, she was a Research Fellow with the Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub, where she worked on equitable water governance. Her PhD in Politics and International Studies examined Delhi’s Yamuna floodplains, analysing how small-scale farmers navigate socio-ecological challenges. As Deputy Editor of the Shima journal, she fosters critical debates on water studies. As a social scientist her research aims to advance inclusive policies by centring community perspectives in environmental decision-making.
