Alistair McVittie is a Reader in Environmental Economics with 25 years’ experience in the analysis of environmental and land use policy. During this time Alistair has worked on interdisciplinary research projects for funders including Scottish and UK Governments, UKRI, EU Framework/Horizon, European Commission, and the UN Environment Programme. He is currently leading a work package on the value of soil ecosystem services as part of the Horizon Europe project BIOservicES. This builds on recent research to value agricultural soil natural capital in Scotland. Other ongoing projects include developing a natural capital model of land use in Scotland.

In LUNZ Grasslands, Alistair will be undertaking a valuation of the ecosystem services provided by grassland systems within work package 4.
