Pippa Chapman is Professor of Soil Science working in the interdisciplinary field of land and water management, with expertise in sustainable agriculture, climate change, nutrient cycling, water quality, peatlands, and ecosystem services. Her research focuses on understanding how land use change and agricultural practices affect soil health and function, and how these changes influence the delivery of environmental and agricultural benefits. Her work has had significant policy and industry impact, including providing oral evidence to the House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee’s soil health inquiry and serving as Champion for NERC’s £9 million Freshwater Quality research programme. She is a regular invited speaker at major agricultural and regenerative farming events, helping to bridge scientific research, policy development, and practical land management.
