Rob Fraser

PLACE Collective at the Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas, University of Cumbria

Rob Fraser is a multi-disciplinary artist who predominantly uses cameras as a tool (photography and film making) for focusing on issues around the culture and nature of place, especially in rural locations. Since 2011 he has collaborated with his partner, writer and poet Harriet Fraser, through their practice somewhere nowhere. Their work sits at the intersection of research, practice and decision-making, and they often work in multi-disciplinary teams on issues concerning landscape care and rural policies. Their work leads to exhibitions, books, presentations and lectures, public events and land-art, both temporary and permanent. In 2023 the Frasers were awarded the prestigious Cherry Kearton Medal by the Royal Geographical Society. Rob is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Cumbria. He is the co-founder of the multi-artist  PLACE (People, Land, Art, Culture, Ecology) Collective, based at the Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas, situated at the Ambleside Campus of University of Cumbria.
