Simone is a Senior Rural / Agricultural Economist in the Social, Economic & Geographical Sciences department of The James Hutton Institute. He obtained a PhD in agri-food economics and statistics from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2016, following an interdisciplinary MA in development studies from the same university. His research deals with the decision-making of stakeholders in agri-food value chains, from farmers to consumers, with a focus on environmental behaviours, public goods, and local livelihoods. His research methods include large-scale surveys, economic experiments, and agent-based modelling.
