Simone is a Senior Researcher in Natural Capital Valuation at the James Hutton Institute. He is an environmental economist with a multidisciplinary background that embraces scientific, social, and economic aspects of natural resources, addressing the valuation of natural capital, ecosystem services and implications for policy and management. Current research is exploring: 1) the implementation of a Natural Capital Asset approach for assessing dependencies and impacts of farming systems on natural capital (H2020 FRAMEwork); 2) the valuation of natural capital in rural context using a participatory GIS mapping approach; 3) the international adoption of natural capital and ecosystem services in environmental policies (2022-27 Scottish Government Strategic Research Programme).
