Lucy is a social scientist in sustainable farming systems at the James Hutton Institute, Aberdeen. She earned her PhD in Public Engagement with Science from the University of the West of Scotland in 2024, following an MEd in Tertiary and Higher Education from the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2019, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Rural Enterprise and Land Management from Harper Adams University in 2000. Lucy is from a farming background and prior to becoming a researcher she worked as an upland livestock farmer and educator. As a social scientist, her research focuses on adaptive capacity within farming systems.
