Daniel is a Research Fellow at Rural Economy Environment And Society, Sustainable Ecosystems, at Scotland’s Rural College, (SRUC).

Daniel is an applied mathematician working in interdisciplinary research, with specialist knowledge of soil science, plant biology, and carbon and nutrient cycling. He applies his expertise in data analysis and mathematical modelling across fields from material science and coral reef ecology to agricultural economics and environmental policy. His work includes pioneering approaches to quantify rhizosphere and porous-material processes using synchrotron facilities, and developing modelling tools that inform UK agricultural greenhouse gas reduction policy.
