Resonance Big Tent Event Summary and Takeaways

The LUNZ Hub Big Tent event in Cumbria last month focused on land use for net zero, nature and people, in UK uplands and protected landscapes. The two-day event explored opportunities for scaling up and replicating change, using a transdisciplinary framework including site visits, shared meals and a conference, with poetry and art interventions.

Discussions touched on river restoration, regenerative farming, common land, peatland restoration, business resilience, agroforestry, protected landscapes’ contribution to net zero and multifunctional land use, as well as providing evidence to policy, highlighting and addressing power imbalances, and the need for more joined-up thinking.

Many participants have carried learning into their responses to the government’s Land Use Framework consultation. Insights from this event will also feed into the design of future Big Tent events and the progress of LUNZ Hub TAG groups.
